Increasingly conscientious of how building impacts the environment and its resources, we have made a commitment to become involved, educate ourselves, and create opportunities for improvement in the sustainable building movement. At R.A. Nelson, we call it Mainstream Green™. The philosophy is that we don’t just build green projects; our intent is to develop eco-minded people and implement sustainable corporate policies as well. We believe the environmental “trend” is no trend at all, but a realization that “green building” produces good business and good buildings.
For the past decade, the R.A. Nelson team has established and implemented many environmental initiatives, from on-site recycling and “lumber only” dumpsters, to going “paperless” in our corporate and regional offices. We have been an active member of the USGBC since 2002 and boast an ever-growing number of LEED APs in our ranks. We have been fortunate to work on projects that utilized many conscientious & efficient systems, including pond loop HVAC, PV systems, geothermal and on-site material reuse. By actively partnering with our clients and consultants, we continue to find innovative ways to address energy efficiency and finite resources – and as a result, create healthier buildings and happier inhabitants.
