Partnering with Communities R A Nelson & Assoc.

“I knew when I interviewed with RANA that they had a good reputation and they cared about the community – it’s even more so now. For me, it’s important to work for a company that consistently goes above and beyond, and genuinely cares about charitable causes"

Community Involvement

Giving back. Now it’s more important than ever. At R.A. Nelson, we’re privileged that the concept has been a principle philosophy for over three decades. Contributing to the larger community is an integral part of our special culture: we feel it sets us apart and it brings us together. That sense of responsibility is apparent in both the projects we undertake as well as the contributions we make.

We go out of our way to get involved with meaningful community projects that are more than just buildings. We are especially proud of a few:

  • Jack’s Place, a cancer caring center, is a 12-bedroom facility that offers lodging, comfort and companionship to cancer patients undergoing treatment at the neighboring Shaw Regional Cancer Center in Edwards, Colorado. R.A. Nelson gave back half their construction fee and spearheaded the challenge to have everyone on the building team donated time, material and/or expertise to the project. The collaborative approach paid off in countless ways.

  • Habitat for Humanity is currently building a 16-unit complex of affordable housing in the Vail Valley. As the professional building partner on the latest LEED® certified duplex at Fox Hollow in Edwards, we provided construction management services and a lot of sweat equity. The all-volunteer efforts reflect the team’s deeply-embedded individual commitment to community involvement as well.

Offering our time and financial assistance to local children and youth programs is another commitment that R.A. Nelson takes to heart. A few are highlighted below:

  • For R.A. Nelson’s “HERO” scholarship at Colorado Mountain College, the company dedicates the funds (& an involved, dedicated mentor) to sponsor one local construction-minded student through their entire college experience. As part of the program, the student gives back to the community by engaging in volunteer services within their community.

  • As a founding sponsor of the Youth Foundation over a decade ago, R.A. Nelson continues to provide funds and manpower for a number of events throughout the year. The Annual R.A. Nelson Turkey Trot is held every year in order to raise funds for much needed after school activities for local youth.
